Every person wants the exact same three things:
- Companionship; love and sex
- Money; to live well without worries
- Intellectual or creative expression; done through a career or business or art that fulfils us through using the mind and abilities.
If you are hungry, for example, 20 people are hungry, it does not matter what you eat, Italian, Japanese etc. Hunger needs food, and food is food.
In the same way, every person is identical in wanting the same three things but expresses them differently.
Find which one or more of the three you are lacking and focus on filling that. It’s not what you do that matters, it is WHY you are doing it.
If you are not aware of your needs, you will do things that never scratch the itch because your focus is off the target.
By being clear on the goal, you are less emotionally delicate because you know the real goal so you can be focused rather than manipulated and tricked into buying things you do not need, or following a misguided path, only to find yourself empty and unsatisfied, looking yet again.
You may be thinking good health is a fourth. Yes, but that is a natural thing that is not a desire, it is a basic animal instinct. This article is talking about the things we need to get from outside yourself in order to live a satisfying and happy life.
If you are perpetually feeling unsatisfied with yoru life, work, partner, then you need to look deeper at what it is you really need, that you are not acknowledging, but instead chasing what you THINK will satisfy that need.
The test is simply, do you keep looking for more and better and never stop looking? Then you know your real goal is not the goal you think you have.
